(3-9) New York Jets v (4-8) Buffalo Bills

Jets took this one on the road 27-23.

(6-6) Carolina Panthers v (4-7-1) Cleveland Browns

Though I picked the Panthers, I said I would not be surprised if the Browns won this game. And that was what happened. Something is going on with Carolina, and they put themselves in a bad position. Five straight losses potentially put them out of the playoffs. Cam has been struggling to connect when it matters most, and this was evident in the closing minutes of this game.

(4-8) Atlanta Falcons v (4-7-1) Green Bay Packers

The Packers defense was the difference in this game. A pick 6 by Bashaud Breeland late in the second quarter set the tone. Atlanta could not get anything to go their way. Even a deep strike from Matt Ryan to Julio Jones to put them in great scoring position ended up getting called back for a penalty (hands to the face by Center Wes Schweitzer). This game was a microcosm of the Falcons’ season.

ATL will be celebrating a championship, it’s just going to be for their soccer team (Atlanta United). They will have to wait until next year to potentially celebrate a Falcons championship.

Final score 34-20 Packers.

(6-6) Indianapolis Colts v (9-3) Houston Texans

Today was upset Sunday as there were a lot of underdogs coming on top. And in Houston, the Colts found a way to get it done on the road (winning 24-21). This win keeps the Colts in contention, making the final wild card spot a tight one.

(7-5) Baltimore Ravens v (10-2) Kansas City Chiefs

This was a big game for the Ravens, and they played this down to the wire. Lamar Jackson went out in overtime with an ankle injury, during a sack fumble. This put RG III in a position to have to win it in OT on 3rd and 22 from there own 41 yard line. To no prevail, KC won in OT by a field goal, and clinched a playoff berth. Final score 27-24.

(9-3) New England Patriots v (6-6) Miami Dolphins

Who would have saw this one coming, I didn’t. The most disciplined team in the league losing because of a hook and lateral play. Basically the final desperation play when a team just tosses the ball around in mayhem, until they finally get tackled, the ball is knocked out of bounds, or the ref throws a flag for illegal forward pass. But this play never works.

Well it worked Sunday, as the Dolphins came away with an upset 34-33.

(10-2) New Orleans Saints v (5-7) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It was starting to look like we were going to see another upset, as Tampa Bay dominated the first half. A blocked punt by the Saints in the third quarter sparked a turnaround, and the Saints got back to playing Saints football. That victory and the Panthers loss allowed them to clinch the South. Final score 28-14.

(4-8) New York Giants v (6-6) Washington Redskins

I just knew that losing two starting quarterbacks would be a hard feat to overcome, and it was for the Skins. They were not able to get anything going, and the Giants took advantage. The Giants blew this game open 40-16.

(5-7) Cincinnati Bengals v (9-3) Los Angeles Chargers

“SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLT!!!!”

The Chargers continue to roll winning this one 26-21.

(6-6) Denver Broncos v (2-10) San Francisco 49ers

I’m never going to hear the end of it from little bro. I picked against my niners, and he picked for them. Sunday they were able to get the upset over the Broncos.

Wow… I found myself in the 4th quarter not knowing how to cheer. Do I cheer for my team, or my record?

What an upset victory for my team, surprising even me and playing spoiler in the process. This loss ended the Broncos playoff chances. Final score 20-14.

(4-8) Detroit Lions v (3-9) Arizona Cardinals

The winning side for Detroit decided to show up on Sunday, and they won this one on the road 17-3.

(6-6) Philadelphia Eagles v (7-5) Dallas Cowboys

America’s game of the Week didn’t disappoint, as this went down to the wire. The Cowboys controlled the clock in overtime, and a game winning TD put this one away. Final score 29-23.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Cowboys (5-7)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PMEagles (6-6)

(7-4-1) Pittsburgh Steelers v (2-10) Oakland Raiders

Another upset as the Raiders found a way to beat the Steelers 24-21. The Steelers are not right, and they are going to find themselves on the outside if they keep this up. The only thing good for them was that the Ravens lost as well.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Steelers (5-8)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PMSteelers (6-7)

Sunday Night Game: (11-1) Los Angeles Rams v (8-4) Chicago Bears

The Bears Defense shut down that high powered offense of the Rams. I am sure it didn’t help that them LA boys had to play in frigid Chicago. I know the Rams are thankful they will not have to play in Chicago for the playoffs, but with this loss they gave up home field advantage back to the Saints. Bears with the upset 15-6.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Rams (5-9)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PMRams (6-8)

Monday Night Football: (6-5-1) Minnesota Vikings v (7-5) Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks continue to roll. They came in hot and looking like a team that may cause problems. I’m not saying they will win it all, but I can see them making it difficult for the other team. They came in on Monday and defeated the Vikings 21-7.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Seahawks (6-9)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PMVikings (6-9)

And with that win for the Seahawks, I came from behind and tied. This still ends up being a losing week for both of us. The take-away come in the form of me not sticking by my team. That was the difference between a tie and a victory. Had I been “Faithful“, we would have been talking about a different story.

As far as the NFL, this week had several upsets. We saw the Dolphins get a last second victory, Raiders shock the Steelers, and 49ers play spoiler to the Broncos. With the season wrapping up, there are still slots to fight for. It will come down to who want it more, and which teams take advantage of the lucky bounces.
