(3-5) Detroit Lions v (5-3) Chicago Bears

The Lions were in the ballpark, but this was an expected win for the Bears. Final score 34-22 Bears.

(7-1) New Orleans Saints v (5-3) Cincinnati Bengals

51 POINTS!!!? Yeah, the Bengals just got dominated. We knew the Saints were good, and expected them to get the win, but I just expected a closer game. Final score 51-14, Saints.

(4-4) Atlanta Falcons v (2-6-1) Cleveland Browns

This was practically a “gimme” for the Falcons. They go in, beat the Browns, and move closer to competing for a possible playoff spot. The Falcons could not ask for a better set up. They were playing a team with a backup quarterback, who fired their head coach. The Browns are playing for pride, while the Falcons were playing for a playoff spot. Well after this showing, the Falcons will get to play for pride as well. This could be the end for the Falcons playoff chances this season. Browns with the upset, 28-16.

(3-5) Jacksonville Jaguars v (3-5) Indianapolis Colts

Little Bro said it well in a text he sent out to me, “Jacksonville has to be the most disappointing team in the league this year”.

Well DeeCee, you are correct. I can not think of another team that started out with so much potential, to just fall out of contention so quick. It’s hard to believe that this is the same team that frustrated Tom Brady in Week 2. “That’s why they play the game”.

Teams that look good at the beginning of the season aren’t always the team that ends with the better record. Same can be said for teams that start off poor (ie Houston Texans). Final score 29-26, Colts

(2-6) Arizona Cardinals v (8-1) Kansas City Chiefs

I expected this to be a lopsided game. In fact, I expected the score of the Saints-Bengals game to be the score here. Big ups to the Cards for having  pride to keep the game in respectable range. Final score 26-14, Chiefs

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Chiefs (4-1)

(2-7) Buffalo Bills v (3-6) New York Jets

How bout those Bills, 41 POINTS!!!. WOW.  Final score 41-10, Bills.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Bills (5-1)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PM Jets (4-2)

(5-3) Washington Redskins v (3-5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

No comeback magic for the Bucs this week. With this victory, Washington earned themselves a little breathing room between them and the rest of their division. Washington needed this win, and they took care of business. Final score 16-3, Washington.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Redskins (6-1)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PM Redskins (5-2)

(7-2) New England Patriots v (4-4) Tennessee Titans

And with that loss, the “Hoodie” goes 0-2 against former players and coaches. Not only did the Titans win, but they dominated that game. Like the Lions, they knew how to plan for Brady, and they executed it to perfection. Final score 34-10, Titans. This just shows that the Titans can be a very good team. They just need to execute consistently every week.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PM Patriots (5-3)

(6-2) Los Angeles Chargers v (1-7) Oakland Raiders

The Raiders are just lining up for the draft, they are on the clock looking to build their future. Not much of a game here. Final score 20-6, Chargers.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Chargers (7-2)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PM Chargers (6-3)

(5-4) Miami Dolphins v (3-4-1) Green Bay Packers

Talking about a team falling off, the Dolphins started the year off with a lot of promise. Now they are playing like a mediocre team. They seem to have lost that belief that they could actually be a playoff team, and it showed. Teams that believe find a way to win, even in the cold. Teams that have given up hope, allow the cold to become their excuse. Final score 31-12 Green Bay.

(4-4) Seattle Seahawks v (8-1) Los Angeles Rams

Seattle actually played this game closer than I expected. In fact, they almost stole one. The Rams still found a way to win, and that is what a winning team does. They find a way to win, even games that are close, and the competition are bringing their A game. Final score 36-31, Rams.

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.08 PM Rams (9-2)

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PM Rams (8-3)

Sunday Night Game: (3-5) Dallas Cowboys v (4-4) Philadelphia Eagles

The Cowboys went back to what were their bread and butter, their running game. Getting Zeke involved more in the running game helped open up the passing game, and kept Dak from getting hit as much. This is the game plan that the Cowboys are going to need to cling to in order to get back into contention.

The Eagles….wow, they really could find themselves from making it back to the playoffs. Their remaining games are against the Saints (on the road), Giants, Redskins (at home), Cowboys (on the road), Rams (on the road), and the Texans (at home). At 4-6, one more loss could be it for their playoff chances. And I currently see at least 3 losses ahead of them. Talk about a difference between seasons, it is hard to believe this is the same team that beat the Patriots back in February.

Monday Night Game: (1-7) New York Giants v (2-7) San Francisco 49ers

First, I have to admit I was wrong about something. I said this game was not MNF worthy. Though (record wise) this was not a marquee match up, it was a marquee game. This was an exciting game that lasted until the last whistle. So great job by both teams putting up a solid effort. My niners gave me a spark of hope for the future. If we can get that secondary squared away, we will be a solid team. Final score 27-23, NY “Football” Giants

Screen Shot 2018-10-12 at 12.24.17 PM 49ers (8-5)

How did we do?

10-2 (83%) for me vs 8-5 (62%) for DeeCee.

We are on the home stretch with the good teams competing for playoff seating, and the bad teams competing for top pick in the NFL draft. Some teams (ie Raiders) are making it obvious, while other teams are actually trying to compete. The Cowboys may be back, for the “Hoodie” the pupils are beating the teacher (though they have a long way to go before they can amass the number of wins and titles that he has), and the Saints continue their March to Atlanta.
